Brett is a talented mathematician whose ability was recognized and nurtured from an early age. He was an early adopter of trading VIX derivatives directly when they launched in 2004 because of his strong belief in their ability to eliminate the difficulties inherent in utilizing traditional equity derivatives for volatility trading.
His early entry into this new asset class allowed him to redefine and create specialized algorithms which would locate perceived statistical inefficiencies specific to VIX futures.
In 2011, he launched Certeza Asset Management, in order to offer access to this expertise to outside investors. Brett is CIO of Certeza and a member of the investment committee.
He holds a B.S. in Finance from Utah State University (Jon M. Huntsman School of Business) and is a Chartered Financial Analyst Institute (CFA) Charterholder.
